Ummahani Ahmad Amin
Ummahani Ahmad Amin is a legal practitioner with over fifteen years multifaceted experience of law practice particularly in finance and capital markets. She is the Managing Partner of The Metropolitan Law Firm, a full- service law firm headquartered in Abuja with specialised broad Islamic banking & finance practice, which she founded in 2008 together with her consultancy outfit, The Metropolitan Skills Limited which provides consultancy and capacity building services. Her immense contribution to the advancement of the niche area in Nigeria earned her the recognition as a subject matter expert in the Islamic industry.
Since obtaining her qualifying certificate to practice law in Nigeria in 2003, she has served in both public and private sector capacities including her appointment as the Senior Special Assistant (Technical) to the Minister of State, Federal Ministry of Commerce and Industry in 2009. In 2020, she was also appointed as the Senior Financial Flows Consultant for the LINKS Programme initiated by the Department for International Development (DFID) United Kingdom.
Ummahani is a law graduate of Bayero University, Kano and holds a Masters degree in Business and Commercial Law from the same institution. She is a certified PPP expert from the Institute of PPP, Washington DC, USA and holds a Diploma in Negotiation Skills from the International Negotiation Academy, Johannesburg, South Africa.
She is a member of reputable professional institutes such as the Institute of Directors; Society for Corporate Governance; Non-Interest Finance Association of Nigeria; and Association of Investment Advisers and Portfolio Managers. She also sits on the Board of various organisations including the Nigerian Exchange Limited, One17 Capital Limited and Salam Takaful Insurance Limited
