Chom Bagu

Director

Mr. Chom Bagu is a principal partner in Infinite Horizons, a peace building and conflict transformation Consultancy and has been involved in conflict transformation and peace building in all regions of Nigeria. Was the Country Director, Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) an agro-processing International Development Non-Governmental Organization till January 24, 2020. He was Senior Advisor, Conflict & Governance for Search Common Ground, Country Director of the same organization for 5 years, Conflict Advisor with USAID Nigeria, National Program Director of the Office of Transition Initiatives of the United States State Department and National Secretary Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Mr. Chom has a Masters of Arts in Mass Communication and an undergraduate degree in Political Science. While working in the USAID system, he undertook several technical trainings on Conflict and Peace building, Contracting, Project design, monitoring and Evaluation and supervised the implementation of several projects. Presently, Chom is exploring the role of Dignity in conflict and Complexity Fit in conflict transformation and the design of 21st century conflict management tools.

Throughout the years, Chom also served as a consultant to a number of international and local organizations including the Associates in Rural Development (ARD), MESEREOR, Germany, International Idea, Centre for Democracy and Development, International Alert, Justice Peace and Development Commission (JDPC) of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, the Karu Area Development Authority, CBD-NGO, Connecting Gender for Development (CG), and the Women Environmental Program, providing training and research services. Chom also served as a member of numerous Nigeria Taskforces.

As a seasoned Manager and organizational leader, Chom has grounded and in-depth experience in work operations and supervision of conflict management projects as well as 2 projects in the private sector. As an experienced facilitator and trainer, his focus is on facilitating personal and group transformation and participation. During his free time, Chom served for six years as the President of a community empowerment group called Community Action for Popular Participation, working nationally in Nigeria. Chom is also a peer reviewer for the Journal of Peace and Development published by the American University in addition to having authored several articles and chapters published in international journals and books.
